Who Are We?
Nonprofit Growth Strategies of Maryland, based in Frederick, MD, specializes in nonprofit change management. Founded by Dr. Inga James, an accomplished organizational psychologist, we offer tailored services, including issue assessment, stakeholder engagement, and customized solutions. We assist with navigating major organizational transitions, implementing strategies, and providing interim leadership to help organizations thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Meet our founder, inga james, msw, phd
Dr. Inga James is the Founder and President of Nonprofit Growth Strategies of Maryland, based in Frederick County, MD, with over 30 years of experience guiding nonprofits through times of transition. She has provided consulting services and assumed executive leadership roles for organizations facing challenges such as fundraising crises, leadership misconduct, or significant periods of growth. As an organizational psychologist, she has helped transform struggling organizations into thriving agencies that deliver critical services to their communities.
Dr. James’s expertise has also been recognized at the state level. In 2019, she was appointed to the Governor’s Workgroup to Study Visitation and Custody Decisions When Child Abuse or Domestic Violence are Alleged. In 2021, she was named to the Governor’s Commission for Trauma-Informed Care. At the outset of the pandemic in April 2020, she founded Trauma Responsive Frederick, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating a trauma-responsive community through advocacy, education, and collaboration. She continues to serve as its President.
Dr. James holds a master’s degree in social work and advanced degrees (MA and PhD) in organizational psychology. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to driving social change and improving the lives of underserved populations.
